Why Parents Deserve School Choice

The education crisis facing children of color is a tragedy that demands a crisis response from our elected leaders. Children of color have been systematically denied access to a quality education as part of a broader system of oppression in this country.

Connecticut’s School to Prison Pipeline is real. Black and Latino students are…

4X

as likely to
drop out

3X

as likely to
enter the criminal justice system

Connecticut’s school funding system is broken and unequal. We need money to follow each child equitably. Connecticut gives…

$400 Million in extra funding to just 8% of students

School choice can give students their best chance of attending college.

Public charter schools, where 88% of students are Black or Hispanic, tripled statewide achievement gains in both reading and math last year, and outperformed their host districts by 12 proficiency points.

HOST DISTRICT SCHOOLS CHARTER SCHOOLS 12 Proficiency Points Higher

Who We Are

We are a minority-led, non-partisan group of parents, educators, faith leaders, and community members united in outrage and committed to taking direct action to end the education crisis facing children of color in our country.

We believe that parents of color know what is best for their children. We believe in every parent's’ right to choose the best school for their child. We DO NOT believe in allowing generations of children to pass through a system that fails them while politicians tell them to wait for things to turn around.

Our children deserve great schools NOW.

What We're Calling For

What we’re asking for is simple: funding should follow children from one public school to another, regardless of whether that school is a traditional public school, a magnet school, or a public charter school. Right now, if a student goes to a charter school, they lose thousands of dollars that should rightfully be theirs. That’s not right.
